ARTS

Atonement has a long history of association with the arts. Many of our stained glass windows were designed and assembled by Lamb Studios here in Tenafly, now registered in the Library of Congress. For many years the Lamb family were active members at Atonement. We are also proud to display Ella Condie Lamb's “An Advent Angel” which was exhibited at the first "World's Fair" in Chicago where it won the Dodge Prize for best painting by a woman artist. Our congregation raised funds to restore the painting to celebrate our 150th Anniversary as a parish in 2019.
The stained glass window over the altar depicts the early Church martyrs, St. Sophia (Wisdom) and her children, Faith, Hope and Love by Maitland and symbolizes maternal & divine love. The Latin inscription at the top of the window is taken from I Corinthians 13: "the greatest of these is love."
MUSIC & THE ARTS
At Atonement, we celebrate the God-given creativity of EVERY person, and actively seek to incorporate beauty and creativity into all of our worship and programs.
